A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER

As an environmental planner, you are vital to assisting the project team in all aspects of the planning process. You focus on research, managing, analyzing, and mapping geographic information, writing technical reports, identifying and evaluating recommendations, and working closely with project managers and the environmental team. Being central in assisting team members in communicating environmental objectives, you utilize your skills with resource mapping and planning on various types of projects. You manage your time effectively, assisting with various tasks in the areas of natural, water, cultural, and ecological resources. You enjoy a true mix of being in the field, conducting inventory, mapping, reporting, and assisting in varied projects and resource tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in natural resources, environmental studies, biology, or related field
Proficiency with MS Office suite, including Word and Excel
Working knowledge of ArcGIS
Familiarity with mapping datasets in CT, NY and MA, a plus
Knowledge of AutoCAD, a plus
Strong technical writing with ability to provide writing samples
Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork within New England with valid US driver's license
